All About Me

Writer, Speaker, Blogger

I attended the University of Wisconsin majoring in Mass Communications and then moved to Colorado where I graduated from the Colorado College of Medical and Dental Careers. I have worked in health care as a certified medical assistant for over thirty years, the last twenty years in family practice. A long-time member of the American Association of Medical Assistants and the Wisconsin Society of Medical Assistants, I served as president of the state organization in 2004.

For my entire life, however, I have wanted to write. In 2010, at my daughter’s bidding, I started my own blog, The Dino Chronicles. It was through this blog that I first started writing about my mission trip to Africa in 2006.

My memoir of that first trip to Kenya, “A Time for Every Purpose Under Heaven,” was published in 2013. Since then I have also published two devotionals, “The Christmas Story in 40 Days” and “The Early Life of Jesus in 40 Days.” My first novel, “Where the Sky Meets the Sand,” was inspired by people and places from her travels to Kenya. My second novel, “The Truth Beyond the River”, was published in the summer of 2020.

Though I love living in northern Wisconsin with my husband, my cats, and my dog, I consider Kenya my second home. Both of my grown children share my passion for Africa, and in 2013, my daughter and I started a nonprofit organization, Tumaini Volunteers, to help provide sustainably to those living in poverty in Kenya. I am always looking forward to my next trip to Africa.
